Beach House Bicheno

About Bicheno

Each season  is a beautiful time in Bicheno and there is usually  lots of sun to be soaked up at the beach and on the decks!

The cottage is laid back, made for relaxing, tucked into the dunes, 1 of just 2 houses on the foreshore park -the closet to the beach and very private.

It overlooks Waubs Bay, has a northerly aspect with expansive views across to Diamond Island ( a protected penguin rookery ) and beyond to the ranges of the Douglas Apsley National Park. Penguins nest in the dunes and come and go on their fishing expedition, Waubs Bay also has an amazing seagrass bed -great for diving and snorkelling with dolphins and whales -often making an appearance.
If you are into swimming Shane Gould and entourage do an early morning swim in the bay -making the most of the sunrise - I am sure anyone can join in.

There is a tennis court, in the foreshore park (racquets provided) along with a children's play centre, and yoga at the band stand or town hall opposite the end of the drive -check at the I Sea Scoops ice cream shop for times -Leon is great and happy to accommodate anyone willing to stretch it out.

The shops, cafes and restaurants are only 2 minutes walk,. with a daily sourdough at the bakery.

Little Bay patisserie is great -Gustav, French trained does great pastries cakes, and the prosciutto baguett is 👌🏻

They also have wonderful herbal teas and coffee.

The local IGA is good and has good selection for foodies
The sour dough is good from the bakery
Coffee from I Sea Scoops is voted number 1 from the locals and of course the ice cream is Tasmanian made.

Bicheno has great seafood supply from 2 fresh fish outlets at the Gulch -5 minute walk along the foreshore path to the east which is also a great spot for fish and chips or to throw in a line whilst enjoying the rugged beauty of the eastern sea side with the granite rocks and orange lichen,
the gulls on the rock island.

Fishing charters also operate from the gulch.

Further on there is the Blow Hole which lives up to its name on easterly and southerly swells.

The foreshore walk in the other direction has lots of penguin nests and heads over to the surf beach and on a low tide across to the Diamond  Island  penguin rookery.
